Blink once

"If you close your eyes, you see darkness. But if you keep them closed for long enough, and concentrate hard, you see light."
Effy Stonem, Skins

I need a break.
(and a little sleep would be nice)

Plaid shirt and permed hair

My classmate Tommy said of this top: "Are you, like, a lesbian?"
Clearly he doesn't know fashion.
(But I never did buy this lovely shirt.)
I miss my long curly hair. And even good old wasted days.

Also, coffee and cigarettes are becoming a habit.)

Keeping warm

Go cover yourself up.

Blacking out the friction

I don't mind restrictions
Or if you're blacking out the friction
It's just an escape, it's overrated anyway
The hardest part is yet to come
When you will cross the country alone.

They did, didn't they?

She seems so cool, so focused, so quiet, yet her eyes remain fixed upon the horizon.
You think you know all there is to know about her immediately upon meeting her, but everything you think you know is wrong.
She only looked away for a moment, and the mask slipped, and you fell.

All your tomorrows start here.

That pallid face

"Still and pale
Thou movest in thy silver veil,
Queen of the night! the filmy shroud
Of many a mild, transparent cloud
        Hides, yet adorns thee."
Winthrop Mackworth Praed

Say hello to one of our closest friends, Monique.
We love her very much.
(You should too.)

It's planner time

The Starbucks planner
I opted for the red one (instead of black/blue)
Toffee Nut frappuccino+shiny, new planner= :)

After two weeks, with the help of Jill and Monique, I finally got enough stickers for a Starbucks planner! And, now that I have one, I think it's time for me to stop buying so much Starbucks coffee and spend my money on this kooky pair of frames instead:

Bowling fan sunglasses, around $4

Ok then, time for school!

/edit: Four hours later, I gave in and bought the shades. Haha!

Shopping List

Back to school technically means back to living with pocket money at last, and money means shopping. Saturday night, I bought a pair of black boots and found myself in the beginning of a Shoe Craze. Sunday afternoon at Duty Free I saw a pair of purple-and-black BCBG heels, brown knee-high Segue boots and black suede Michael Kors heels. I'm going mad, screw comfort, I want them all.

Gotta be practical, though. I'm adding to my shopping list a short dress like Mary-Kate Olsen's, a long cardigan like Rachel Bilson's, denim shorts (when will I ever find the right one? This has been on my list for months already) and a high-waisted skirt like Alexa Chung's. Chop chop shop!

That old rock 'n roll feeling

Well,that's what they all say

No sleep+stress=bad skin and eyebags
My almost empty drink and my Starbucks planner promo card

Today, I treated myself to a tall Dark Cherry Mocha frappuccino from Starbucks because:
a.) It's a Saturday and instead of sleeping in, I have to force myself out of bed to go to school and study Accounting---a subject I very much despise.
b.) I'm collecting stickers for the 2009 Starbucks planner. Admittedly, the current planner design isn't as nice compared to previous designs but I'm still getting one anyway. So far, I have 8 stickers on my card but Jill's helping me out and I think she's collected around 6 stickers for me already.
c.) I wanted to try all the Starbucks holiday drinks and the Dark Cherry Mocha frappuccino's the only drink I haven't tried yet.
d.) I need my caffeine fix.

On other news, I think I'm in love:
Of course, I still prefer dSLRs over compact cameras but this camera is just so beautiful. The Canon G10's features are similar to a dSLR's although packed in a much smaller body. I want this camera because while it's convenient, it doesn't sacrifice photo quality. Also, if I have a Canon G10, I wouldn't have to carry a bulky and battered Canon 350D everywhere anymore. Haha!

Alas, I can only dream. Besides, this is what I'm really saving up for:

"And what emotion have you chosen to depict?"

Effy Stonem: Anger, Jealousy, Bitterness, Tiredness, Hope, Lust, Love.
Madame Deluca: A veritable feast. So where is it?
Effy Stonem: It’s everywhere.

Hypersomnia vs. Insomnia

Insomnia wins.

(thanks in part to Starbucks coffee)

Cheers to a long and happy weekend at last! Second semester is off to a gentle start, nothing but introductions and economic reviews, and even accounting for partnerships seem manageable. Spanish classes are great fun, but I'm glad I'm finally free to sleep in and listen to good music, feeling high and dry and on top of the world, and attempting to write clever poetry. It's been a good first week, and here's hoping for even better days ahead. Ah, college. I've heard it's supposed to be a rockin' good time. I'm not holding my breath, but it's good to dream.

Always changing but still the same

Too true.

from the book, Influence

Going through the motions

I've been making a list of the things they don't teach you at school. They don't teach you how to love somebody. They don't teach you how to be famous. They don't teach you how to be rich or how to be poor. They don't teach you how to walk away from someone you don't love any longer. They don't teach you how to know what's going on in someone else's mind. They don't teach you what to say to someone who's dying. They don't teach you anything worth knowing.” Rose Walker from The Kindly Ones, Neil Gaiman

Back to school again. So far, I've no complaints but then again, maybe it's because we haven't really done anything but roll calls yet. Secretly, I'm hoping this is all we'll ever do but that, unfortunately, is impossible. Knowing this, I'm giving it a week before school-related stress starts to kick in. In the meantime, I'll go back to my coffee and continue reading Neil Gaiman's Fragile Things.

Good night.

It's a trick!

Gingham's for the plighted maid,
Words in "The Satin Dress" Dorothy Parker laid
But I don't remember any promise I've made--
Nor the path for which tomorrow I'll trade.

At night when I'm high, I write things that rhyme.

Tomorrow marks the start of a brand new semester in my university. Not too happy about it, of course, but here's hoping school's off to a good start. Applied Calculus, I will conquer you!

"I like bright colours on clothes. Well it depends on what mood I'm in, but right about now, I like reds and pinks and yellows and oranges - colours of the heart, I guess. What I love even more is buying clothes from charity shops. I used to make up stories about the people behind the clothes. Who were they? What do they like? Who did they love?" Cassie Ainsworth
